We are coming up to our peak summer period and to help us continue to deliver exceptional customer service we are recruiting for 6 permanent Trainee Able Bodied Seafarers as well as a number of fixed term Cabin Attendants to join the Interislander team.

We are looking for a team of outgoing, motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our existing crews. If you have a passion for hospitality, enjoy satisfying customer needs and going the extra mile then this role might just be the one for you.
You'll wear many different hats in this customer focused role, but whether you are welcoming customers on board, serving in the food court or assisting with preparing the ship for sailing, your enthusiasm and positive attitude for hospitality and retail will shine through leaving customers with a great memory of the Interislander experience.
The position involves shift work, 6 days on and 3 days off, with the shifts being either 9 or 10 hours long, depending on the designated ship. Please note that due to the hours of some of the shifts, public transport is not an option to get to and from work, so you will need to have a safe and reliable way of getting to work at the Wellington Ferry Terminal in Aotea Quay.
Interislander offers crew two nationally recognised qualifications - the National Certificate in Maritime Hospitality (Level 2) and Occupational Safety and Health (Level 1).

Ref 2069a Trainee Able Bodied Seafarers, Wellington - 6 Permanent Roles
As a Trainee Able Bodied Seafarer we will provided you with all the necessary training to allow you to ultimately qualify for a New Zealand Able Sea Farer - Deck certificate.
During your training you will:-
* Undertake the required Basic Training
* Work through and complete the tasks required in the Trainee task book
* Learn and understand and participate in all of the elements of becoming an Able Bodied Seafarer i.e. mooring operations, cargo securing, vessel maintenance, rope work, safety operation.
* Accumulate and record the sea-time required to meet the criteria
Prior to starting you will be required to meet Maritime New Zealand medical and "Fit and Proper person" requirements.
As well as being physically fit, you will also bring to the role your excellent customer service skills as you will be interacting with customers on a daily basis during vehicle loading and stowing.
